About Geno Morgan

Geno Morgan — born and raised on Chicago’s South Side — was a dedicated mentor, coach, and advocate for youth. Though he earned his college degree later in life, Geno’s passion for basketball and education fueled a lifelong commitment to helping young people realize their potential. Over the years, he coached and inspired youth in cities across the country — from Chicago, IL to Anchorage, AK; from Trenton, MO to Mt. Pleasant, UT; and finally in Atlanta, GA, the place he made his home.

Geno believed in more than just sports — he believed in the power of encouragement, opportunity, and hard work. Known for his compassion, energy, and unwavering belief in the next generation, he touched countless lives and opened doors for students who might not have had the opportunity otherwise.

After his passing, the Geno Morgan Foundation was established to carry forward his vision. Through GMF’s scholarship program, 88 students have already been awarded financial support toward college — a living testament to Geno’s belief in second chances, education, and dreaming big. In celebration of the foundation’s 10th anniversary, GMF is proud to double its impact, expanding its scholarship offerings and continuing to honor Geno’s legacy by helping more young people access higher education.

Geno Morgan’s life reminds us that with dedication, hope, and support, young people everywhere can dream — and achieve — beyond what they once imagined.
